Active Server Pages (ASP)

The implementation of Microsoft's server scripting technology is known as Active Server Pages or ASP. ASPs are server-generated pages which can call other programs to do things like access databases, serve different pages to different browsers - basically, anything we used to do with CGI. ASP is almost as efficient as writing code directly to the server's application program interface, and it's a lot more efficient than CGI because it runs as a service and can take advantage of multithreaded architectures.

Here's the official word from the Microsoft site: "Active Server Pages is an open, compile-free application environment in which you can combine HTML, scripts, and reusable ActiveX server components to create dynamic and powerful Web-based business solutions. Active Server Pages enables server-side scripting for IIS with native support for both VBScript and Jscript."

With ASP technologies, we can build your site into a dynamic interface and incorporate many features - database integration, e-commerce solutions, shopping carts, file includes, rotating banner ads, client logins, search engines, message boards, and so much more!

ASP is including in our Professional Web Design Package, E-commerce Packages, and can also be performed on an hourly basis.

PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor

PHP (recursive acronym for "PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor") is a widely-used Open Source general-purpose scripting language that is especially suited for Web development and can be embedded into HTML.

What distinguishes PHP from something like client-side JavaScript is that the code is executed on the server. If you were to have a small PHP script on your server, the client would receive the results of running that script, with no way of determining what the underlying code may be. You can even configure your web server to process all your HTML files with PHP, and then there's really no way that users can tell what you have up your sleeve.

PHP is mainly focused on server-side scripting, so you can do anything any other CGI program can do, such as collect form data, generate dynamic page content, or send and receive cookies. But PHP can do much more. PHP can be used on all major operating systems, including Linux, many Unix variants (including HP-UX, Solaris and OpenBSD), Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, RISC OS, and probably others. So with PHP, you have the freedom of choosing an operating system and a web server. Furthermore, you also have the choice of using procedural programming or object oriented programming, or a mixture of them.

PHP is including in our Professional Web Design Package, E-commerce Packages, and can also be performed on an hourly basis.

Databases

MS Access - Microsoft Access is firmly established as a robust tool for creating database solutions that can handle the traditional requirements. With the release of Access version 2002, Access becomes the perfect tool to meet the demands of the new economy. With WWW support, developers can create sophisticated enterprise-wide database solutions that integrate easily with the Web.

Access databases can be easily integrated into any website using an OLE DB connection. Understanding OLE DB is easy - it is a way of directly connecting to a database using pre-installed drivers provided by database manufacturers. This method is extremely fast, thorough, and simple compared to the old procedure, a DSN connection.

Access databases are primarily used for smaller companies not storing much information. For instance, an online store with less than 100 products, or a website with a small databank of clients would be most suitable for this type of database. Although it is evolving for the web, this database was not initially designed to run with internet applications. Because of factors like a 250 simultaneous user maximum, Access databases are not suitable for larger sites with excessive data storage.

mySQL - mySQL is the world's most popular Open Source Database, designed for speed, power and precision in mission critical, heavy load use. The mySQL database server embodies an ingenious software architecture that maximizes speed and customizability. Extensive reuse of pieces of code within the software and an ambition to produce minimal but functionally rich features have resulted in a database management system unmatched in speed, compactness, stability and ease of deployment.

mySQL databases provide the power and speed for for companies with extreme amounts of data storage. This database structure is more recognizable for companies with over 100 products, a large client databank, or other types of heavy storage. Integration is just as easy as an Access database using an OLE DB connection.

Since mySQL is an open source project, this means that development is made real by the user. The source file for the actual database is freely distributed, allowing all types of developers to make updates, fix bugs and security patch issues, design administration programs, and other edits. In addition, this is a free database, which any person can download and use. Because of this, no other database can compare.

Database design and integration is included in all of our E-Commerce Packages and can also be performed on an hourly basis.
